AROUND SLATE MILL LODGE
The Slate Mill Lodge is situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
This is Britain's only truly coastal National Park and boasts some of the most spectacular scenery and diverse wildlife in Britain. It's a spectacular landscape of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, wooded estuaries and wild inland hills, and a place of sanctuary for wildlife.
The landscape has been shaped over the centuries by people, leaving their mark in tombs and castles, crosses and cottages, quarries and quays.
It was established as a National Park in 1952, and is the only one in the United Kingdom to have been designated primarily because of its spectacular coastline.
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail covers 186 miles (299km) of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Britain. It was Wales' first long-distance route, and is one of 15 premier long-distance National Trails in England and Wales. It can also be enjoyed in shorter sections, accessible to people of all ages and abilities, with the small coastal villages strung out along its length offering welcome breaks and added enjoyment.
Because of its central location Slate Mill Lodge is an excellent base for Coast Path walkers. The 30mile section of the path between Broad Haven and Milford Haven is within a 15 minute drive of Slate Mill Lodge. We are happy to arrange pick-up and drop-off for coast path walkers staying at Slate Mill Lodge. We can also organise luggage transfers and packed lunches.
